AIRING OF THE QUILTS 2026
On the Grounds at Duck Creek
The Arts Center at Duck Creek will host the 4th annual Airing of the Quilts NOW ON SUNDAY MAY 3, 12 to 5 PM
All are welcome to participate in airing their quilts in this celebration of community, creativity and the arrival of spring. This cherished tradition symbolizes the transition from winter into spring. The age-old practice of quilt-making fosters creativity, storytelling and community across generations.
Throughout the day, attendees can hang their quilt on the clothesline, enjoy Cyanotype Quilt Square Workshops, as well as view the Community Quilt created at the 2025 event. 2026 Duck Creek exhibitor Andrea Cote will lead two cyanotype workshops, one at 12:30 p.m. and one at 1:30 p.m. where each guest receives a piece of light-sensitive fabric and creates a quilt square, using nothing but objects and sunlight. Finished squares will be sewn together by Louise Eastman to create the 2026 Duck Creek Community Quilt. Additional squares will be available for guests to work on at home.
“Bringing the Airing of the Quilts tradition to Duck Creek was the inspired vision of local artist Louise Eastman. The event weaves together everything Duck Creek holds dear: community, craft, and the joy of a new season. Everyone is invited to hang their quilts, share the stories behind them, and collaborate on our yearly Community Quilt. It is, in every sense, a perfect expression of Duck Creek's mission to make the arts inclusive and accessible,” shares Duck Creek Executive Director Jess Frost.
